Client description
HB Reavis is a real estate company. Over the 30 years of its existence, they have evolved from a Slovak development company to an international workspace provider delivering projects focused on wellbeing and efficiency.
Assignment
To help design a modern data architecture in a cloud environment, for managing data entities in a multi-building, multi-tenant, multi-space, and sensor technology environment so that scenarios for workplace analytics and facility management can be implemented.
Description of implementation
We designed a data management system for a client in a lambda architecture where thousands of signals per second are processed in real time (Speed layer). We prepared a scalable infrastructure on Azure cloud platform. We have designed and implemented a data concept for storing and processing building data (Data Lake). We designed and implemented a multi-tenant metamodel (buildings, tenants, spaces, users, sensors, metrics, …) to meet the needs of dynamically emerging business scenarios. We made the processed data available in real-time for applications in Azure Cosmos DB document databases. For selected metrics, we also prepared history processing in the form of Power BI datasets for analytical scenarios.

The main benefit of the solution is the ability to manage data processing in a dynamic environment (buildings, tenants, changes in premises and new sensor technologies) so that modern scenarios can be implemented using building data.

Result
The system is able to manage a dynamic sensor data processing environment and provide it in real-time to applications to implement well-being scenarios.
Next steps
The project was carried out at a time when various sensing technologies and scenarios were being validated. The proposed data processing architecture and multi-tenant metamodel is in production use.
