Západoslovenská distribučná, a.s. (ZSD) is one of the most significant electricity distributors in Slovakia. The company provides electricity distribution to more than one million customers in the western part of Slovakia. ZSD focuses on delivering reliable and efficient services, with a strong emphasis on innovation and modernization of its processes and infrastructure. As part of its strategy, the company aims to implement the latest technological solutions to improve service quality and increase operational efficiency.

Project Objective

The goal was to make available profile measurements, register readings, and related master data in a format suitable for analytical processing. This means enabling business users to leverage self-service approaches and machine learning tools to create advanced analytical models, which should be usable in future operational phases to achieve defined business objectives.

Implementation Description

Modern cloud technologies allowed us to build a flexible data platform and establish new data analytics processes in a very short time. We securely integrated smart metering data and linked it with master data from the SAP system. By implementing this requirement through a conceptual approach, we enabled the realization of similar requests for other analytical scenarios.

Result

Thanks to the Data Lakehouse solution, Západoslovenská distribučná gained efficient access to analytical data. Automation and integration with SAP eliminated duplication, accelerated data product development, and enhanced data security. The platform provides a consolidated view of data, supporting better decision-making and more efficient operations.

Next steps

The new Data Lakehouse is ready to integrate additional data sources, significantly enriching the analytical layer and offering new insights for business users. The platform also serves as an excellent support tool for data integration between Západoslovenská distribučná and Východoslovenská distribučná.
